HD EIGHT

HD EIGHT is a community-led initiative from HD8 Life CIC, designed to celebrate and support the incredible makers, producers, and suppliers in HD postcode areas - from Brighouse to Holmfirth, Marsden to Clayton West - and to help you buy locally produced items more easily.

Inspired by the Sussex Six, HD EIGHT is simple:

We invite hospitality and retail businesses to pledge to always offer eight locally sourced products - created, made, baked, brewed, or grown in an HD postcode.

You might be a café serving cakes from a village baker, a deli stocking cheese from a local dairy, a boutique selling handmade crafts from an HD maker, or a pub pouring beer from a Huddersfield brewery - HD EIGHT is about keeping it local.

Why HD EIGHT matters

By taking the HD EIGHT pledge, your business will:

  • Champion local producers and suppliers in HD postcode areas

  • Boost the local economy by keeping spend within the community

  • Reduce food miles and environmental impact

  • Attract customers who value quality, sustainability, and buying local

  • Strengthen connections between businesses and residents

Benefits for your business

Joining HD EIGHT isn’t just good for the community, it’s great for your brand. Shoppers love to support businesses that source locally, and being part of HD EIGHT helps you stand out.

As a pledged business, you’ll receive:

  • A feature in the HD EIGHT online directory on the HD8 Life website

  • Promotion on HD8 Life’s social media channels to our engaged local audience

  • Marketing materials to display in-store or on-site showing you’re part of the initiative

How to join HD EIGHT

Getting involved is quick, free, and impactful. Simply complete the HD EIGHT Pledge Form (below) to share your business details and list the eight (or more!) locally sourced products you offer.

Once your pledge is confirmed, we’ll add you to our HD EIGHT directory and start sharing your story with our community.

HD EIGHT is here to make “shop local” more than a slogan; it’s a commitment to supporting HD postcode businesses, keeping money circulating locally, and celebrating the talent on our doorstep.

*You don't have to be an HD-based business to be part of HD EIGHT, but you do need to commit to selling 8 products from HD-based makers, growers, producers.

HD EIGHT

To be part of the HD EIGHT campaign, you must be a hospitality or retail business, and we ask that you commit to adding eight new local products to your menu or your retail outlet in the coming six months.

The local products must be grown, made or created in an HD postcode.

If you already serve or sell eight or more local products, all you need to do is pledge your commitment to continue to serve or sell eight local products.

These products can change over time and could be seasonal, so long as there are always at least eight local products available from an HD postcode at any one time.
